Chamangul Walls

  home

This wall has been constructed in a way that it faces, the present day, Shishkat village, overlooking the Hunza river. Chronological evidence and actual purpose behind the construction of this wall are very vague. However, it is said that during old times Hunza and Nagar were two rival states thus were trying to occupy each others territory. It is narrated that the wall with gate was constructed to defend the region against the invasion of Nagar. However, according to another theory this wall was constructed to stop the invasion of the Hunza and Nagar when Mir Quthlogh created their own principality in Gojal area. The wall still exists however is loosing its identity as the people usinf the stones to line their orchard boundaries.
