According to oral history the upper Hunza was a seperate principality under the rule of Wakhi Mirs. It is said that during that time the historical Ondra fort, Qilha colony and the Chamangul walls were built. The local Mirs belongs to the Borikutur tribes of Gulmit. The Mir of Hunza tried his best to occupy this strategically important region and for this reason he invaded for many time on this principality but not succeeded. It is said that for this reason he hired a old women from Nager and sent him to Gulmit in poor form. Mir kept her in his house and she started to live with his family and also worked for them. It is said that after some time she mixed poison with dinner and fed to the whole family and herself fled during nighttime. At next morning people found the whole family dead except a little daughter. The whole family was buried just above the Polo Ground. Later, the graveyards were bulldozed and turned into cultivated land.  In 1996 at that place the extended building of Govt, Girls School was constructed.
