I am looking into getting a puppy from a breeder but he is telling me I have to make a payment then he will draw up the paperwork with his lawyer that has the proof of ownership and then he will send the puppy. But it sounds a little suspicious because I can’t see the paperwork until I pay. Is this normal??

I have my own requirements, too, on what I feel to be in the best interest of the puppy/dog!
    1. I would not buy a puppy that has been micro chipped.
That's not to say I think micro chips are not beneficial IF someone doesn't keep their dog inside, doesn't have a fenced in yard and doesn't stays with them outside then the benefit could be greater than the risk to be micro chipped but that should be the decision of the buyer because micro chipping is not without risks.
    2. Some contracts I read where they state a dog would stay up to date on "all" vaccinations! I would never sign a contract with that in it. I am NOT against vaccinations but I also know there is science that shows the risks in vaccinations and there is risks in OVER vaccinating dogs when giving them vaccinations that they already still have immunity to.
Having the rabies vaccinations is the law we have to do but many vaccinations are not needed as often as they are recommended by some vets while other vets do know the risks and science on when they shouldn't be given more vaccinations. I can't believe any vet would think a 10 pound dog should received the same amount of vaccination as a 130+ pound dog but some do.
Some Breeder contracts do NOT tell me they are in the best interest of the puppies/dogs. Some are more about controlling the buyer than protecting the puppies/dogs.
    3. I think a Breeder should be willing to take a dog back if a owner is unable to continue giving care but shouldn't be demanded in a contract for the Breeders to just make double the money off of a dog if the owner has someone in their family or a friend that is knowledgeable, loving, and cares about the dog that they would take it.
I have had dogs 45 out of 47 years. A part collie that lived to be almost 18 that I got when she was 6 months. A part Lab I rescued when she was almost a year and she had heartworms when we rescued her, we had her treated and she lived to be almost 15. Two Shelties, one lived to be almost 12 that I got when she was 6 months and another that lived to be 14 1/2 that I got when she was 3 months.
The dog that died the youngest of the dogs I had she had Kidney Failure after being vaccinated and that is when I started doing research on vaccinations learning that there is risks especially on over vaccinating them!
I didn't sign any contracts with either of my Shelties and one of the Breeders was very well known and had won awards with some of her show dogs. Of course it's possible after I got my Sheltie from her that she changed to doing contracts.I don't know that she did if she did.

Honestly, you could also do compilation videos of bloopers and puppy footage. The filming is amazing. They tend to get a looot of views and yours would be remarkable due to the very high quality.

I did not scroll through all of the comments so idk if this was asked before but, why did the golden pups at the end have what looked like red marks on their legs? Does that have any importance or significance when buying from a breeder? Or was that just something that breeder did to seperate the dogs somehow?

At what point should someone expect the contract to be signed? I’ve come across some breeders who want some money before the contract and some that wait for the contract to be signed by both people before accepting money. Sometimes it’s difficult to know what to do when you’ve never met the breeder in person and they’re out of state somewhere else.

Hi back yard breeder here, in my honest opinion contacts are bs . I at least provide health papers to prove that the puppy is healthy and free of issues. If that’s all a person is concerned about than that’s all that matters. There just an unnecessary waste of paper

Really good advice to give people who never bought a dog from a reputable breeder. There are plenty of backyard breeders with excellent healthy bread pups, they should be less expensive and come with a letter from a vet about the first shots and deworming. These backyard breeders are looking to make TAX FREE money!(Shout Out from TEAM ROTTIE!)
